✅ Proposed Enhancement

Three Key Improvements:

1 Gas Search — Search 840+ gases by name, formula, or Chinese name. Select gas → MW & RF auto-fill.

2 Display Name — Custom short name (≤12 chars) shown on device LCD, e.g. "2-MeTHF" instead of full chemical name.

3 Manual Mode — Still available for custom gases not in database.

💡 Design Rationale — Device Display Enhancement

NEW Display Name on LCD: The custom "Display Name" (≤12 chars) replaces generic "USER GAS1" on the measurement screen, giving operators immediate context about what gas is being measured.

NEW RF Value on Screen: Showing the Response Factor (e.g. x2.00) on screen helps operators verify configuration without going into menus.

CHANGE User Gases Priority: In Gas Library menu, User Gases appear FIRST instead of buried at the bottom of 840+ gases. Users who configured via IR LINK shouldn't scroll endlessly.

CHANGE Nick Name in Menu: Each User Gas shows its Display Name as a sub-item, so operators can see at a glance what each slot contains without selecting it.

Gas Search vs Dropdown

Problem: 840+ gases in a dropdown is unusable.

Solution: Real-time search supporting:

English chemical name
Alternative name (e.g. "THF")
Chemical formula (e.g. "C6H6")
Chinese name (e.g. "丙酮")
CAS number

Display Name Feature

Problem: VPRO LCD is small; long chemical names don't fit.

Solution: User-defined short name:

Max 12 characters (fits LCD width)
Can use abbreviations (2-MeTHF)
Can use internal codes (SOL-A1)
Full name preserved in software
